TIME FOR TAKE-OFF

5:30 AM. The sun rises 15 minutes before schedule. As if realizing that she had better be gone in time tonight. She has got too strong a rival. An expected sea of flames will drown any other source of light.
In the meantime the Uchronians are coming to life at their basecamp. They are coughing the dust out of their lungs. Heartbeats are going faster. There is no time for futilities during breakfast. There is one briefing after another, as the Uchronians are preparing their departure at the utmost. Minute by minute all activity becomes as hectic as on the launching platform of a spaceshuttle.
Everyone knows exactly what to do. At 9 o’clock precisely Uchronians, dressed up in white for traveling, should check in. Those who miss the appointment, will be left behind on this planet. But there is no one late. Earthlings are waving them out.
At eleven o’clock, perfectly according to the flight schedule, a fire in the rooftop is the premonition of departure. Flames are spreading slowly from the roof down and eat away the construction. The heat is unbearable, it drives back those who are watching. Fire tornados are dancing, till suddenly all goes quiet.
Above the flames some creature is hovering. Some believe to see a messiah, others a messenger from the future. Only the Uchronians know, but they remain silent. Those who stay behind are starting a pageant, cheering, dancing around the fire, hoping for an explanation to be found on these webpages.
