another project of Uchronia. Five international accredited artist join forces with a band of designers to create a new form of art, again on the edge between art and economy. The location is well chosen: Eben Ezer is an artist reaction to two world wars, deliberately built close to the military fortress. Everyone spent the night here in the gloomy woods, talking philosophy and ideas form past and future. They pledged to keep in contact to complete three installations, build round the three questions I put to them: 'Energy & resources', 'Waking the artist in people' and 'What if tomorrow..'. Artists and designers together, a band of creative minds, bound to a single project.

The second time we met in a museum in Hasselt (Belgium) for a second brainstorm session, after a guided tour trough the exhibition 'light play' we started to work. Uchronia should have a working place, where people can come in, discuss and reflect and build a common project. The interactivity is important.

today we came together with a group to develop a concept for the structure of a new real physical uchronian platform. the idea is to develop a open structure that can be filled in by participants. It will be a building in MOTION. "the journey of the structure will be more important than the destination". It will be a playground and a toolbox for Uchronians and a warm HOME and place where you CAN learn falling. We split in two groups and will come together the 28th of february!!!

6the February we have had a meeting with the people of the city Genk where we would like to build the Uchronia house. We made a small slideshow from the beginning of the workgroup eben ezer , brainstorm sessions till what we now have. The only goal was to tell the people we’re thinking about “a building in motion” a docking station that stays in Genk and parts they can travel around the world; Now it’s time to become a more concrete and find out witch the limitations are. For example under the ground we build is a parking garage so the construction of the building can not be done any way we want. There for we planned an other meeting with the architects and the people from the media and design academy the 26the of February so we will know a lot more at our next meeting 28the February. The people from the academy are willing to share a part of the building with us… we only have to convince them.

So we are immersing yet deeper into the concept of Uchronia @ C-mine. We are considering how to really utilise our environment. Ecologically, communally & resourcefully. After all, resourcefulness is next to godliness!

The site is a mix of old buildings & other structures that carry a strong history. Put this alongside wiz bang new academies, cinemas & Uchronias. Now you have a taste of things to come. How can we recycle the energy that is created exclusively by the C-mine as a living, breathing community? Uchronia must be a self-sustaining organism of pure nature. Feeding on its surroundings & various creative inputs. An eco-factory. The primary products, goodness manifested as creative revolution & commodities in the new way of living.

Now, someway along Uchronias path to materialization, we are at the stage “lets get physical”, cardboard molecular scissoring, stretchy textile scalloping , globular foam dremelling. The interpretation of our sketches & words into maquettes will now fill our days.
